On May 1, Governor Cuomo announced the closure of New York State schools, related to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), for the remainder of the academic year. This is to protect both students and staff until appropriate protective measures can be put into place.
With this news, we will be working on finalizing plans as to how some programs/activities scheduled for the remainder of the year may be able to take place remotely. Details will be shared with you once confirmed.
In the meantime, distance learning will continue to be provided. During this closure, we want to make sure families know that students ages 18 and under can visit locations throughout Broome and Tioga Counties for multiple "Grab & Go" meals per student per day. We are being told that you can go to the site closest to you no matter where you live or what school you attend. Within the District, you may pick up meals at Vestal High School. In Tioga County, the "Grab & Go" meal site is the Apalachin Fire Station, 230 Pennsylvania Avenue, with Grab & Go meals on Mondays & Thursdays, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 - 6 p.m. If you have any special dietary needs, please call 211. District buildings, playgrounds and athletic fields are likewise closed during this period.
