Vestal Seniors receive national recognition

Vestal High School Principal Dawn F. Young is pleased to announce that six Vestal High School seniors have qualified as Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. We congratulate Ryan Cordi, Jessica Elie, Haein Kim, Rebecca Martin, Yuri Ponomarev and Grace Zhou for this significant achievement. 

In addition, two more seniors have been selected as College Board Recognition Program Scholars. Antonio Aaron is a College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program Designated Scholar, and Olivia Muse is a College Board National African American Recognition Program Designated Scholar. 

“I am so proud of these students and their achievements especially in light of the pandemic,” said Vestal High School Principal Dawn Young. “These students embody resiliency and a commitment to their education that rises above less than ideal circumstances. These are designations that few students earn, but is the culmination of years of pursuing academic excellence. Congratulations to these students, their parents, and all the teachers supporting them along the way!"

Our Commended Students are among approximately 34,000 National Merit Scholarship Commended Students being recognized. Our Designated Scholars, among around 32,000 students from across the country being awarded with academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program.
