Glenwood welcomes new Building Principal

Vestal Central School District announces that Hannah Elwyn was selected as building principal at Glenwood Elementary School, with the retirement of Mrs. Doreen McSain. Miss Elwyn joins us from the Chenango Forks Central School District where she was, most recently, Assistant Principal at Chenango Forks Elementary School. She assumed her new duties on July 1, 2022.

“We are pleased to welcome Miss Elwyn to our District,” said Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Patrick Clarke. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. With her passion for elementary students, I am confident that she will help Glenwood Elementary continue its quest to provide the best possible education for every child.”

A native of King Ferry, New York, Miss Elwyn graduated from Southern Cayuga CSD and earned her Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education (Grades 1 - 6) with a concentration in Italian Language for Grades 7 - 9 from Buffalo State College. She went on to earn her Master's in Literacy from Binghamton University, where she also earned her CAS in Educational Leadership.

Miss Elwyn began her teaching career as an Italian teacher for Grades 7 and 8 at Jennie F. Snapp Middle School in the Union Endicott Central School District. She also served as the Director of the Endicott Educational Resource Center. After six years of teaching, she joined the Chenango Forks CSD as Dean of Students for Chenango Forks Elementary in 2017. Miss Elwyn was appointed Assistant Principal at that same school in 2019.

“I am so excited to be joining the Vestal CSD team, and especially the Glenwood team,” said Miss Elwyn. “From my first visit to Glenwood, I had a feeling it was where I was supposed to be, and I am privileged to have this opportunity to work with such amazing staff, students, and families.”
