Welcome to the Vestal Central School District. We are pleased to have you and your family join our District as new "Golden Bears!" The Vestal Central School District uses a Central Registration model through the platform Operoo for students entering Kindergarten and new students moving into the District. 


Operoo is a secure registration platform that provides an easy way to register your child for school. Registering through Operoo allows you to create a profile, which you will then be able to use throughout the District, when we deploy this platform for additional purposes.

Here is a list of what you will need to successfully complete the registration process

  • Two Proofs of Residency dated within the last two months (See examples below)
  • Proof of Immunizations
  • Proof of your child's Birth Date / Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Custody Papers (if applicable)

Meeting with the Registrar if you need additional assistance is also an option. Office hours are 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, when school is open. (District offices will be closed on national holidays.)

Examples of Proof of Residency:

  • Official Driver's License, Learner's Permit, or Non-Driver ID
  • Utility or other bill* (such as NYSEG, cable service, or sanitation service)
  • Voter Registration document, Pay Stub, Tax Returns or Bank Statements
  • Documents issued by federal, state or local agencies
  • Copy of Residential Lease or proof of ownership of a house, such as the deed or mortgage statement
*Please note that we cannot accept a copy of an envelope mailed to you; We will need a full copy of the actual document it contained, such as that listed above.

Universal Pre-Kindergarten Registration

Vestal Central School District offers a half-day free pre-kindergarten program, contingent upon grant funding from New York State, at two third-party sites. Transportation is not provided.
 
When enrollment exceeds the number of seats funded by New York State, a lottery is held for residents of children eligible in the Vestal Central School District. However, any children living in temporary housing in the District who will be four years old by December 1 of the year enrollment is anticipated will be given a seat in this program.

Kindergarten Registration

For information on registering your child for Kindergarten in the current school year or for next school year, please click the Information on Kindergarten Registration link below.

To determine which elementary school your child would attend, please access our Street Finder tool in the right menu under "Finding Your School."

Please note, some programs exist only in certain elementary buildings. For example, students who qualify for English as a New Language services living in the Tioga Hills, Glenwood, and Clayton Avenue elementary attendance zones would attend African Road Elementary School. More specific information can be obtained by calling the District Registrar, 607-757-3500.
