Vestal Central School District is one of 152 school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services in the state to receive the 2018 School Safety Excellence Award from the Utica National Insurance Group. This is the fourteenth year in a row that Vestal has been awarded the “Titanium with Honors” Safety Award, the highest level the company offers.

presented the award at its 38th annual school safety seminar held on March 20, 2018, and Vestal Central School District received a certificate from the insurance company, as well as a $500 award for use in furthering the district’s safety efforts.
Utica National’s School Safety Excellence Award Program helps participating schools enhance overall safety through measurable assessment. The program evaluates schools with their own transportation on 17 categories, from school playground safety to indoor air quality with specific, quantifiable data-gathering surveys.
For over 40 years, Utica National has helped schools keep their students and staff safe. The company currently insures more than 300 school districts in upstate New York. “Districts that go above and beyond to provide a safe, healthy and focused culture for learning are to be applauded,” said Brian Saville, resident senior vice president in Utica National’s Educational Institutions unit. “We’re pleased to count Vestal Central School District among them.”
