Emergency School Closings

When it is necessary to close the district because of severe weather or a building emergency, announcements will be made over radio/TV stations. Please see the list below. This information will also be reflected in the red alert section above the masthead of the district’s website, www.vestal.k12.ny.us.

When schools are closed, all other events scheduled for that day will be canceled. No announcement will be made when school is operating normally. Please do not call the stations or schools; simply listen to the radio or watch the television stations listed below for announcements.

If an emergency should arise when school is in session, students will be transported home. Your child(ren) should be instructed in what to do if you are not home during the day.

Ed Alert Notifications

If you have signed up for Ed Alert you will receive an email, text message or both, depending on your request when you signed up. It will indicate an emergency closing and the dismissal time for your child(ren)’s school.
